KeenDog had the amazing opportunity to be a part of this year’s Rescue Me 5k located at McApline Creek Park in Charlotte. This was the third year in a row that the American Pit Bull Foundation has put on this race and it was a major success! The race benefited the American Pit Bull Foundation’s program, Operation Sidekick. Operation Sidekick trains rescued Pit Bulls to be amazing service dogs for Veterans suffering from PTSD. This program is possible because of the support gained through events like this. This event alone raised over 25k!
The race started at 9am, and we were excited to see so many familiar faces there, along with so many others. There were a total of 517 human racers and 227 dog racers. There were a few KeenDogs there, such as Sherman, Cash, Keystone and Baymax. We love seeing our clients at events like this with their dogs, so huge thanks to everyone who came out and represented KeenDog well! KeenDog Trainers Phill Kensington and Ashley Rodriquez were there with Alces, KeenDog Brand Ambassador with Odin, and KeenDog Photographer Austin Chaney. Our booth served as a place to answer any questions racegoers had, and introduce KeenDog to the running community.
We enjoyed seeing other sponsors and rescue organizations there supporting this amazing organization and participating in the fun. Free doggy ice cream was handed out, Canine Good Citizen testing, there was a costume contest, and the Carolina Poodle Rescue put up a doggy kissing booth.
APBF’s RescueMe 5k is a fun event supporting a great cause, and we were honored to be a part of it. Be sure to sign up for the race next year, and if you were not able to attend but want to learn more about the APBF and their Operation Sidekick program, visit www.americanpitbullfoundation.com
