Our main goal at KeenDog is for you to be able to live optimally with your dog and that includes being able to confidently travel with them. Here are three benefits to crate training your adventure buddy:

1. Safety in transit!
   Would you let your baby crawl around the car while driving? Would you let your toddler hang halfway out the window, or your teenager sit in the bed of your truck? A good quality crate will protect your dog in case of an accident, prevent them from becoming a hazard while you're driving, reduce the accumulation of hair on your upholstery, and protect your car interior should your dog become sick while you're driving.
2. Comfort and calm on-the-go!
   While most dogs enjoy exploring new places, travel can disrupt routines and be stressful for some. Crate training your dog means that you can bring a piece of home along with you - a safe, cozy place where they can unwind, relax, and process all of the new sights and smells that they've come across on their adventures. A little home away from home!
3. Peace of mind when you have to leave your dog behind!
   These days it's easy to plan ahead and find dog-friendly activities, but sometimes leaving them in a hotel room or Airbnb is unavoidable. If you have to leave them unsupervised, we always recommend leaving them in a crate, even if they're reliable with freedom at home. You never know how they'll respond in a new environment. To avoid disruptive barking and whining, we recommend making sure your dog is comfortable in a crate at home long before you travel with them.

A common thread in most dog training is that structure leads to freedom and that can definitely be seen with crate training. If you want to travel with your dog and let them experience all that the world has to offer, make sure to set them up for success with structure. Proper conditioning to the crate will ensure their safety and comfort as well as your peace of mind!
